Courses

We offer two types of courses. Private courses will allow you to study in a comprehensive way at your own pace, and the classes will always be tailored to your needs. Group courses, on the other hand, will enable students to study and interact with fellow students, which will be a great motivation for those wishing to learn as part of a group. Every class will be automatically booked at the same time every week after you have made a decision regarding the lesson time that suits your schedule. This simple and easy to arrange scheduling system will enable you to have a consistent set lesson time and reduce the stress of continuously rescheduling.

Private

Your lessons will be taken 1 on 1 with your teacher, who will customize your classes according to your needs to maximize your experience! Private courses are highly recommended if you would like to study effectively and at your own pace.

You can choose your instructor type (Japanese or Internatinoal) and the class length (25 or 50 mins), during which we will help you with a wide range of things from basic stuff like hiragana, kanji, conversational Japanese and JLPT prep to peripheral things such as Japanese culture and traditions, anime, manga, immigration, studying abroad, etiquette, and honorifics within business settings.

*If you want to learn Japanese in Kansai dialect, you can specify your instructor for an additional fee.*

Japanese instructor

If you already have a good grasp of Japanese, we recommend you taking classes with a Japanese instructor. You can learn everything about Japanese, from natural Japanese phrases to slight differences between two similar expressions, in correct Japanese accent.

The course is also perfect for those who want to learn 敬語 (business Japanese) and business ettiquette, and those who want to learn to speak Japanese natively. Every member speaks fluent English, so you don’t need to worry about language barriers either.

International instructor

International instructors will be ideal for students at the starting point of their learning journey or still at a moderate proficiency level. They were once in the same place as yourself, so they are able to lead you to your goal in the shortest most efficient way. If you want to learn Japanese in a well ordered and steady way, we recommend taking classes with them!

Every international member’s mother tongue is English, so if you feel your Japanese level is not high enough to understand classes in Japanese, they will be able to explain all aspects clearly in English to assist you.

Consultation

In addition to Japanese lessons, we offer 1 on 1 consultation sessions as well, where we help you with your concerns and worries about Japanese study, life in Japan and/or anything related to Japan. It can be something less serious like asking about Japanese anime or asking for recommendations about places to visit during your trip.

*You need to be taking at least one of our Japanese courses in order to take a consultation session.*

Group

Each group class has 3-4 students to one instructor. You can choose from 3 per-level courses and 3 per-interest courses, and all classes are 50 minutes long. If you prefer studying in a group to studying by yourself, you should choose this class type because you can meet and study with your fellow students from different parts of the world, who will have similar levels of Japanese or similar interests as you. They may become your friends for life!

*Please note that you may have to wait or take a private course at the beginning until at least 3 students apply for the course you want to take.*

Introduction

This course is for anyone who is just starting out. You will learn hiragana, katakana – these are the most basic Japanese characters – and simple greetings in addition to other basic Japanese grammar.

Beginner

You will study daily vocabulary, kanji and grammar. If you are considering studying abroad, traveling and/or making friends in Japan, this course suits you the best. The target Japanese level of the course is around JLPT N4-N5.

*Hiaragana and katanakana are prerequisites for this course*

Intermediate

This course is focused around higher level Japanese used in news, articles, essays, novels, etc. The course will prepare you with the skills to discern and engage with information from the media and discuss social topics in Japanese, which are essential when immigrating to Japan.

*Your Japanese must be equal to or above JLPT N4 level to take this course*

Culture

Judo, Shinto, anime, manga… new or old, we have an abundance of unique and outstanding cultural traditions and practices within Japan. This course will familiarize you with them while you study the languages at the same time.

Dialect

It is often thought that there is a single type of Japanese, this is a common misconception. Across Japan various dialects and accents exist each with their own unique pronunciation and nuances. In some cases, this can even make it difficult for Japanese to understand one another when they are using differing dialects.

Teachers from outside Tokyo will teach you in their hometown’s dialect and accents so that you can learn different types of Japanese.

Immigration

If you are determined to immigrate to Japan in the future, we will help you to set achievable goals, prepare you step by step and enable you to smoothly settle into a life in Japan while moving through this course. On top of the weekly lessons, the course includes a monthly consultation whereby we will help you make your dream into a reality.
